Animated explainer videos are an almost guaranteed way to boost your business. A professionally made video can significantly increase traffic, clientele and sales conversions. But then, professional videos do come at a cost and if you don’t do your research well, you may end up paying more than what the video is actually worth. Thus to make sure that you are getting your money’s worth, it is important that you understand how they are priced. That would also ensure that you do not end up arguing about a certain additional animated video cost in the middle of the project. There are several factors that contribute to the overall cost of a video but the three primary considerations are the length, the style, and the complexity. Here I will discuss only the length. I have discussed the style and complexity of this blog post of mine.
Video Length and animated video cost
Depending on the quality of work and the popularity of the production company, the cost may vary hugely. As such I do not want to set a stereotype on the pricing; rather my goal here is to make you go through the ins-and-outs when it comes to calculating pricing based on duration. At the end of the day if you are not knowledgeable about how animated video cost is measured you can end up in an awkward situation. Most companies have a pre-built structure that generally features a base price and then they have additional pricing based on certain factors. I am not inclined to the base price rather I would discuss what you would expect and what not after you have agreed to a base price. Say, for example, you hire a company for the duration of 60 sec and you are trying to figure out the additional costs that may come up with a final duration beyond agreed seconds. Let’s say around 70 sec. What would you expect the provider to charge you? I am not sure what you are thinking but if you are hoping to calculate a per-sec price, you are probably wrong. Most likely you will be charged for a within 90 sec video ignoring the fact that it’s just 70 sec. Don’t get it wrong but if you are hiring a company for a within 90 sec video and the company comes up with a 70 sec video you can bet that your job is well done. It proves that they have worked really hard to keep the duration as short as possible. So, basically when you agree to a slab based price you are actually letting the scriptwriter do some honest writing and decide on the best duration for you, be it 70, 80 or 90 sec. It is, however, best to clarify the terms well in advance before you move on to hire a production company.
